Seven candidates are taking aim at two available seats on the West Clermont Board of Education.

On the Nov. 6 ballot are, alphabetically, incumbent Linda Bloom, incumbent Barbara Hartman, Kathleen Hornschemeier, Dan Krueger, Karen Pointer, Steve Reuhl, and Denise Smith (who could not be reached for comment).

In telephone interviews with the candidates, common themes that emerged were the recent negative publicity surrounding the school district, school funding, and communications; all of the candidates indicated that those were the top three issues facing the school district at this time.

Incumbent Linda Bloom, who has been a West Clermont bus driver for 20 years, has lived in Batavia Township for 35 years, and was first elected to the board in 2003, is seeking re-election because she feels that there is still much to be done for the school district.
