Napier, Gray, Kilgore, and Steele are SBC-American Division all-star players of the year

Clermont County’s autumn season high school sports stars shone brightly. Following are those Clermont countians who received all-star recognition for their outstanding play in their respective sport in the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division (included is the year in school).

The autumn all-star dream teams of the Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye Division included many Clermont countians. This is Milford’s first year in the conference. Following are the Clermont County members of the all-conference teams (included is the year in school).

Lions’ Bird sets county’s pace in tennis sectionals

Tournament competitions were not necessarily or particularly the highlights of the fall varsity girls tennis season for Clermont County’s varsity teams. Clermont County’s best efforts were made in the Division II level of competition. This sectional took place at Seven Hills School.

Progress being made on new Clermont County Homeless Shelter

Progress continues to be the buzzword of the day for the new Clermont County Homeless Shelter project. Billie Kuntz, executive director of community action, said that the project is shaping up well and could be completed by summer if all goes as planned.

Highway Patrol recognizes two employees for work

Two members of the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were recognized recently by their coworkers because of the effort they put into their work. Trooper Christopher Krantz and Dispatcher Ron Newman were each selected by coworkers as trooper and dispatcher of the year respectively.

Batavia Trustees discuss plans for war memorial in township park

The status of a war memorial project to be located in Batavia Township is at the same time more solid and less sure than ever. A presentation given by the memorial committee to the Batavia Township Trustees disclosed both a great deal of time and thought put into the memorial’s design.

Burke Trust managers cautiously supportive of cabin restoration plans

The managers of the Burke Trust have extended a cautious support for the restoration and preservation of the Accord Cabins in Burke Park. The cabins, which have been falling into disrepair in recent years, were slated for sale and removal a year ago before a committee of concerned citizens formed to preserve the cabins in their current location.

Marcy Deboard, 63

Marcy Deboard, 63, of Williamsburg, died Nov. 21, 2007. She was a manager at the Rainbow Bakery. Funeral services and burial were held Nov. 26 at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.
