The first annual Critter Costume Parade was held in Batavia Sept. 30.

“It was a huge success and we were thrilled with the response and participation,” said Batavia councilwoman and beautification committee chair Summer Tyler. “We are going to plan on making the parade an annual event in the village.”

The parade, which was co-sponsored by the Batavia village council’s beautification committee and Dr. Jennie Bard and Dr. Alfred Dubois of the Family Animal Hospital practice on West Main Street, attracted more than 40 costumed dogs and one cat.

The parade, attended by an estimated 150 people, featured costumed animals; many of the pet owners also dressed in costumes to match their pets.
