Sandra Jane Harmon, 63, of Milford, died Sept. 11, 2007. She was a health care medical transcriber. Funeral services were held Sept. 15 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sycamore Township.

Louise V. Bright, 89

Louise V. Bright, 89, of Milford, died Sept. 17, 2007. She was a department store cashier. She was preceded in death by parents, Lewis C. Currence and Cosbie Clark.

Six candidates running for Batavia Township Trustee

Six candidates, Bill Dowdney, Lee Cornett, Larry Richmond Jr., Dan Haglage, Louis Moore and Kate Henson-Arlinghaus, are vying for one seat on the Batavia Township Board of Trustees. While the high number of candidates makes the race one of the hottest in the county, incumbent Lee Cornett said that there is nothing new about that.

Sweep yields 123 plants

A recent narcotics sweep by the Clermont County Narcotics Unit resulted in 123 marijuana plants being found and destroyed. The plants were found in Jackson, Williamsburg and Franklin Townships, with another 96 being discovered just across the border into Brown County.

Milford police arrest robbery suspect

A potentially dangerous robbery resulted in no physical harm after an armed robber was caught by the Milford Police Department Sept. 11. According to the Milford Police Department, Kevin Thorton, 26, of Milford, was arrested for allegedly robbing a state Route 28 Cash Express in the city of Milford.

Clermont native to be inducted into the Ohio Veterans’ Hall of Fame

Clermont County native Donald Eugene Patton will be posthumously inducted into the Ohio Veterans’ Hall of Fame on Nov. 8. Patton, who is one of only 20 state veterans who will be inducted this year, was known in Clermont County as “Mr. Veteran” before his death in 2001 at the age of 68, so named because of the indefatigable energy he displayed in his support for and his years of service to the veterans in the county.

Police find dog attack resulted in mystery 911 call

While the sequence of events remains unclear, a mystery 911 call was solved when a woman and child with wounds from being bitten by a dog appeared at Mercy Hospital Anderson. The mystery call originated from a cell phone, and the incident was eventually traced back to the residence of Bengal player Deltha O’Neil.

Energy-efficiency helps Felicity-Franklin district save money on cooling

The Felicity-Franklin local school district has implemented a unique energy conservation program. Felicity-Franklin buildings supervisor David Diesel recommended that the superintendent and the Board of Education approve a small purchase order for Innovative Energy Solutions.

MRDD asking voters to renew levy

The Clermont County Board of Mental Retardation and Development Disabilities (MRDD) will be asking voters to renew a .75-mill levy in November. “We are asking voters to support the renewal levy,” said MRDD superintendent Sharon Woodrow. “It is crucial to renew the levy this year because the five-year levy that voters approved in 2003 expires next year.”

Amelia Council expected to amend curfew ordinance

Amelia is amending its curfew ordinance. In place for decades, the curfew ordinance as it exists now needs revision and some adjustments to meet the changing times, said mayor Mike Scharf.
