The death of two Union Township residents remains shrouded in mystery as the investigation into the incident continues.

The Union Township police have found leads, however, but are unable to release that information, including the cause of death.

“At this point, I’m not releasing the cause of death,” said Lt. Scott Gaviglia. “The investigation is still continuing, and we’re speaking to people of interest.”

The bodies of Mark Thiele and Kimberly Butler were found Sept. 11 in an apartment at 763 Rue Center Court in Union Township. The bodies were discovered when a neighbor in the apartment complex noticed an odor coming from the apartment and alerted the apartment manager, who opened the apartment and saw a dead person. Police quickly determined that both deaths were criminal in nature.
