The Clermont County Collaborative of Historical Societies held its 16th annual Museum Day Sept. 15.

“An estimated 500 people visited the county museums as part of our annual Museum Day,” said CCCHS president Ron Hill. “The Museum Day is a unique and wonderful opportunity for the residents of our many communities to see all of the county museums at no cost. It is the collaborative’s way of highlighting the availability of the museums in Clermont.”

There are 12 historical museums in Clermont County.

The 11 county museums that welcomed the public were the Bonaventure in Loveland, the Anchorage in Goshen, the Promont House in Milford, the Owensville Historical Society Museum and log cabin, Harmony Hill and the Clermont County Historical Society Museum in Williamsburg, the Ross-Growdy House in New Richmond, the President Ulysses S. Grant birthplace and church in Pt. Pleasant, the Grant memorial building in Bethel, the Lafayette School in Monroe Township, and the Lock #34 park museum in Chilo.

Grant birthplace docent Loretta Fuhrman said that approximately 50 people visited the historic home and that everyone seemed to be appreciative of the opportunity to visit the home free of charge.
