Amelia is amending its curfew ordinance.

In place for decades, the curfew ordinance as it exists now needs revision and some adjustments to meet the changing times, said mayor Mike Scharf.

“We have been working on the revisions for the past couple of months,” he said. “The amended ordinance is expected to meet council’s approval in the next few weeks.”

Village council has determined that the original nighttime curfew ordinance, which was adopted in the Fall of 1985, is no longer “sufficient” to meet the needs of the village in regard to protecting minors and all other village residents.
