The Union Township Board of Trustees did some house cleaning Sept. 11, taking care of a range of minor issues, as well as addressing several pressing ones.

In honor of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Union Township Police Department color guard presented the U.S. and Ohio flags at the beginning of the township meeting, after which the trustees dove into a full agenda, that included five zoning cases.

The trustees approved a motion to allot an easement to Duke Energy as part of the construction project for the new Station 52 fire house. The easement, said administrator Doug Walker, would provide the necessary utility infrastructure to power the station. Walker also proposed that the township purchase a piece of land near Veterans’ Park.

“This is a motion to purchase the property at 4302 Glen Este-Withamsville Road,” said Walker. “This is adjacent to the property we currently own, which is adjacent to the Union Township Police Department headquarters. This is in accordance with our long-range plan of purchasing properties adjacent to our parks as they become available.”
