After years of failed levy and bond issue attempts, Milford Exempted Village Schools administrators are hoping to go straight to the source to find out how to proceed. A series of public meetings have been announced for members of the community who wish to weigh-in on issues facing the district and to provide a clearer view of what the people the district serves wants to see in their schools.
“I’m new here,” said Dr. Bob Ferrell, interim superintendent for Milford schools. “It helps me to find out what the community feels about priorities in our school district. The other thing is we really need to address our strategic plan. Our strategic plan is currently out of date, so we need to take a look at that and see where we’re going. What are the plans, what’s important and what’s not important to this school district? We don’t ask a lot of times what isn’t important. A school is a reflection of what’s important to a community, so we have to listen, we want to listen.”
In all, seven meetings between Sept. 13 and Oct. 22 have been planned, and are expected to provide an intimate forum for district residents to gather in and discuss what they want to see in the schools.
