The Clermont County Board of Commissioners proclaimed Sept. 11 as Patriot Day.

The proclamation, which was read by Clermont Commission president Bob Proud and accepted by Clermont County sheriff Tim Rodenberg and Miami Township Fire/EMS chief Jim Whitworth, is a way for the county to reflect upon and remember the thousands of people who died in the Sept. 2001 terrorist attacks.

“On this sixth anniversary of the attacks in New York City, at the Pentagon, and in the skies over Pennsylvania, we need to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by so many,” said Proud.

The proclamation was meant as a way for Clermont County to salute and recognize the selfless heroism of those responders who were first on the scene on that horrific Monday morning.
