Tutoring and ice cream? Sounds like a delicious match made in educational heaven.

Kathy’s Kids Tutoring and Eric’s Ice Cream Parlor, two businesses owned and operated by the Merman family, are now open for business in Kennedy’s Landing, a new strip mall center off Glen-Este Withamsville Road.

Kathy Merman, who taught middle-school for 24 years until her tutoring business became all-consuming, moved the family business into the new Eastgate area building space two months ago (she has been operating a tutoring service for 13 years), and decided to also open an ice cream parlor.

“My son Eric and I have had a dream for years of opening up an old-fashioned ice cream parlor,” she said. “Like my tutoring business, we wanted it to be a family place where people can come in, sit down and meet, and socialize while enjoying delicious ice cream and our other many products.”
