The Clermont Northeastern Local School District has received an “Effective” rating on its annual report card from the Ohio Department of Education.

“We know that we still have some work to do to achieve an excellent rating from the state,” said superintendent Neil Leist. “The district is doing a lot of things right and I am relatively pleased with the scores. As superintendent, I look at the positive things about the report card right away.”

Clermont Northeastern, which has a student body of more than 1,600, met 25 out of the 30 performance standards mandated by the state to achieve the “effective” rating, falling short only in the fifth grade mathematics and social studies test scores, the sixth grade mathematics scores, the eighth grade social studies scores, and the graduation rate, which is at 83.8 percent (state requirement in 90 percent).

The CNE Elementary was rated excellent for the second year in a row and the only indicator in the high school that hindered an excellent rating was the aforementioned graduation rate.
