New Richmond volleyball enjoying best start in school history; Williamsburg continues to win
Williamsburg’s varsity girls volleyball team continues to increase its number of victories. Goshen and Milford, too, have been triumphant more often than not in recent action in Clermont County. New Richmond is experiencing its best start since the sport began being recognized as a girls varsity sport beginning with the 1974-75 school. It had been a boys varsity sport up through the 1970-71 school year.
Lions and Tigers fighting for SBC tennis crown
Bethel-Tate and New Richmond have been the most recently successful girls varsity tennis contingents in Clermont County. Amelia, Goshen, and Milford have been winning a good share of recent confrontations, too.
Batavia and New Richmond, as usual, kicking around their SBC boys soccer competition
Batavia and New Richmond sport the best records of their respective division of the Southern Buckeye Conference (SBC) varsity boys soccer races. The Bulldogs blanked Felicity 8-0 in SBC National Division action on the Cardinals’ turf. Scoring for the Green and White were Matt Walker twice, and Will Walker, Joshua Steinmetz, Chase Miller, Larry Smith, Nolan O’Brien, and Jacob Nelson, once apiece.
Milford boys, Glen Este girls win distance invites
Georgetown (Geo) was the boys champion at the annual Bethel-Tate Invitational. The G-Men scored 45 points, Eastern (E) 52, Glen Este (GE) 56, New Richmond (NR) 86, Goshen (Gos) 111, Fayetteville (Fay) 123, and Felicity (Fel) 183. Amelia (Ame) , Batavia (Bat), the host Fighting Tigers (BT) , Clermont Northeastern (CNE), Miami Valley Christian (MVC), Norwood (N), and Reading (R) did not field full five-man teams.
Batavia, Glen Este, Goshen score many, win big
Last Friday night there were lots of points scored and lots of points between the winners and losers in many of Clermont County’s high school varsity football games. In what is supposed to be the biggest rivalry (attendance and population-wise) in the county, host Glen Este (3-2) decimated Amelia (1-4) 63-0 for their eighth consecutive victory over their inner-West Clermont School District rival.
Candidates vie to fill three seats on Clermont Northeastern board
The CNE School Board has three open seats this election, with three incumbents seeking to remain seated on the board against a single challenger. Hoping to remain are Jayne Mummert, Patricia Spencer and Mike Freeman, while challenger Danny Ilhardt is hoping to become a new member of the board of education.
Collins indicted on 12 charges involving minors
A Goshen man has been indicted on 12 sex-related counts involving minors. Amiel Collins, 42, was arrested by Goshen police Sept. 12 after a concerned mother living at the Lakeshore Estates mobile home park located off state Route 28 returned home from work to discover Collins hiding inside her 13 year-old son’s bedroom closet.

Helen Garcia, 88, died Sept. 19, 2007. Funeral services were held Sept. 22 at the E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia.
Harold Price, 78
Harold Price, 78, of Goshen Township, died Sept. 19, 2007. He was a truck driver at Freight Transportation and a Korean War Army veteran. Funeral services were held Sept. 22 at the Evans Funeral Home.
Leslie L. Reffit, 31
Leslie L. Reffit, 31, died Sept. 15, 2007. Visitation and funeral services were held Sept. 21 at the E.C. Nurre Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Batavia Union Cemetery.
