West Clermont seeks $30 million bond issue

The West Clermont Board of Education voted at a special meeting Aug. 15 to place a $30 million bond issue on this November’s ballot. The board is again asking district voters to support their efforts in replacing two of the district’s oldest schools - Amelia and Withamsville-Tobasco elementaries – by approving the 1.36-mill bond issue that will now be on the ballot.

Goshen scout relocates garden for Eagle project

Goshen Boy Scout Alex Dziech has relocated and upgraded a memorial garden at the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Milford. As part of his Eagle Scout project, Dziech, 14, called the Faith Evangelical Church and inquired about any work that needed to be done in order to complete a leadership project to become an Eagle Scout.

Jason Tackett, Western Brown graduate, is the new athletic director at Clermont Northeastern

Jason Tackett is the new athletic director at Clermont Northeastern High School. Tackett is very familiar with the schools and athletic programs and conferences in both Clermont and Brown counties. Tackett is a 2000 graduate of Western Brown High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball and was a Southern Buckeye Conference American Division all-star on the baseball diamond.

James Collins has become the new athletic director at his alma mater, Amelia High School

James Collins will be the new Amelia High School athletic director beginning with the 2007-08 school year. He replaces Ken Kesselring. Collins, a 1994 graduate of Amelia High School, becomes the third Amelia graduate to become athletic director at his alma mater following William Tabscott, class of 1920, and Michael Rapp, class of 1974.

Southern Buckeye Conference all-stars are selected

The American Division of the Southern Buckeye Conference has announced its winter sports all-star teams. Bethel-Tate, Clermont Northeastern, Goshen, and New Richmond are the Clermont County member schools of the conference. Following are the Clermont County members of SBC-A stellar all-star squads. Listed with each all-star is the grade in school.

The 15th Annual Legion Post 406 Car Show was a success

Despite the sweltering heat and rain showers scattered throughout the afternoon, the 15th Annual Bethel American Legion, Post No. 406 Car Show was deemed a success by winners, spectators and Post members. Commander Dwight (Butch) Loudon said although the numbers did not quite compare to last year’s, all in all, it was a good turnout in spite of the rain.

Safety Fair to be held in Miami Township Aug. 25

The Miami Township Fire and EMS department will continue a tradition this month with its annual safety fair. The Aug. 25 event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kroger store in Mulberry Square on Ohio 28, and will feature a wide range of safety demonstrations and fun activities for families.

Jeffrey Howell, 41

Jeffrey Howell, 41, of Milford, died Aug. 9, 2007. Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family and the Craver-Riggs Funeral Home is serving the needs of the family.

Rosella Schrichten, 79

Rosella “Rosie” Schrichten, 79, of Amelia, died Aug. 6, 2007. Funeral services were held Aug. 10 at the E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia. Burial followed at the Monroe Cemetery.

Connie Jean Adams, 58

Connie Jean (nee Swart) Adams, 58, died Aug. 6, 2007. She was a former teacher at New Richmond and Felicity-Franklin Schools. The E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in New Richmond is serving the needs of the family.
