Jason Tackett is the new athletic director at Clermont Northeastern High School.

Tackett is very familiar with the schools and athletic programs and conferences in both Clermont and Brown counties.

Tackett is a 2000 graduate of Western Brown High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball and was a Southern Buckeye Conference American Division all-star on the baseball diamond.

The son of well-known Western Brown coach Charlie Tackett, Jason graduated from Morehead (Ky.) State University where he majored in education in the fields of physical education and health education.

Jason Tackett is the new athletic director for the Clermont Northeastern High School Rockets. He will be assisted by his father, Charlie.
The new head man of the Rockets' athletic program will be not be teaching, but instead will serve as a full-time athletic director.

Tackett appears to be very confident and feels he will bring good things to Northeastern.

"I like to be around sports and the athletes and coaches and I like coaching and I'm young and I've got the time to do it," he said in describing why he sought the athletic director position in Owensville.

Tackett has experience working with Northeastern Rocket athletes. During the just completed spring sports season, he coached the junior varsity fast pitch softball team for the Blue and Gold.

The youngest athletic director currently serving in Clermont County and the Southern Buckeye Conference, either division, he pointed out some of the many duties that he will be expected to perform at Northeastern.

As most athletic directors are expected to do, he will be responsible for the senior high school and middle school athletic season schedules, arrange and coordinate transportation for games on the road, and the interviewing of new coaching applicants and conducting the reviews of the present coaches' job performances after each season has come to a conclusion.

He believes in the early-on performance of his job that he needs to begin fund-raising and advertising for the overall athletic program.

"One of the first things I'd like to do is to build more school spirit towards the entire athletic program," he said. "I also want to upgrade the facilities...the football field could be upgraded among other things."

His youthful enthusiasm very well may be just what the Clermont Northeastern High sports program needs for a big boost.

"I'm definitely excited, but I'm also a little nervous at the same time. I am really looking forward to the coming school year," Tackett said.

Tackett will be assisted in his athletic director duties by his father, Charlie, who has experienced great success as a coach of many athletic squads at Southern Buckeye Conference American Division foe, Western Brown.
