Amelia soccer alumni enjoy Able Memorial game

Many of Amelia High School’s male and female soccer alumni gathered recently to raise funds for the Branden Able Memorial Scholarship.

Able was one of the best of the Barons in varsity soccer history. After receiving a scholarship to continue his studies and play soccer at Defiance College, Defiance, Ohio, he was killed in a motorcycle accident the next summer.

He is being remembered by this annual game that is played to raise funds for soccer scholarships for Amelia High School seniors who played soccer during their prep career.

The participants were divided into four somewhat evenly balanced co-ed teams.

The rosters for the four teams of soccer old-timers are as follow:

More than 60 Amelia High School graduates participated in the Brandon Able Memorial Soccer gathering that is held in memory of former Amelia High School and Defiance College soccer star Branden Able. Proceeds of the game go toward Amelia soccer scholarships.
Team One

Angela Kohnen, Ashley Spencer, Lindsay Gray, Ashley Sarver, Jimmy Carter, B. J. Durel, Chance Baysinger, John Reese, Jason Emmitt, Heather Correy, Kyle Linneman, Jake Jones, and Andy Harvey.

Team Two

Joel Wilkens, Kristen Ell, Michelle Reinhardt, Lauren Thompson, Julie Reese, Tom Vandemark, Jay Sutter, Chris Iker, Justin Sprague, Lauren Koehler, Andrew Roller, Eric Derchi, and Joe Toerner.

Team Three

Greg Gessendorf, Carrie Ell, Megan Guinan, Jess Burns, Megan Spencer, Kyle Anderson, Matt Abirached, Jeff Vandemark, Anthony Collini, Ashley Crutcher, Tyler Sprague, Tyler Griffin, and Tracie Williams.

Team Four

Elaine Knuden, Monica Kohnen, Nucha Denessa, Katherine Westerdorf, Matt Clark, Kyle Girton, Mike Burns, Shawn Emmett, Eric Schweinhart, Alli Pierman, Garrett Sprague, Andy Robinson, and Eric Master.
