Russ Whitley approached Bethel Council Monday, July 23 and announced that he will be seeking to make Bethel’s precinct A open for alcohol sales.

Last year, Whitley successfully opened up two other Bethel voting precincts to alcohol sales on the November ballot.

“I’ve been approached by a couple of nice, sit-down restaurants,” said Whitley. “There is one thing holding them back, so I want to make an announcement. I went to the board of elections and started a petition. On the November ballot, precinct A will be on there to sell beer and wine. Only people in precinct A can vote.”

If successful, the measure would allow the alcohol sales to be site specific, forcing anyone who wishes to sell alcohol in that location to be placed on the ballot for public approval.
