The village of New Richmond is exploring the option of adopting a charter form of government.

Village council held a special meeting to review information regarding the formation of a charter government in the New Richmond School Board meeting room July 17.

The guest speaker at the 90-minute fact-finding meeting, which was attended by Mayor Terry Durrette, council members, and a handful of village residents, was Columbus Charter Form of Government expert John Gotherman, of the Ohio Municipal League.

New Richmond Village Administrator Dave Kennedy said that council is currently only exploring the option of the alternative form of government but is interested in finding out if a charter form of government is something that the village would be interested in pursuing.
