New Richmond considers loitering ordinance
New Richmond Village Council is attempting to pass legislation prohibiting unruly large groups from congregating or loitering on the village’s public streets. Due to the constitutional issues involved in adopting such legislation, the lengthy process of passing an “unlawful congregation” ordinance requires three public hearings on the matter.
Humane Society to hold events to raise funds
The Clermont County Humane Society will be putting the warm summer weather to work for them, scheduling two fund-raising events in less than one month’s time.
Patrol participates in ‘Look for the Light’ program
The Ohio State Highway Patrol, in an effort to promote motorcycle safety, spread awareness, and ultimately to save lives on all the Clermont County roads and highways, is participating in a state-wide program known as “Look For The Light.”
Volunteers ‘sweep’ the shoreline
Clermont County residents participated in Operation River Sweep June 16. Cooperative weather welcomed the more than 60 volunteers who assembled along the Ohio River in New Richmond to participate in the beautification effort which entailed picking up litter and debris from the river’s shoreline and its many tributaries.
Ken Rushford’s life-saving efforts are recognized statewide by Ohio Athletic Trainers Association
Ken Rushford is an athletic trainer with Wellington Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine in Eastgate. He has again been honored for his quickness of thinking, his quick reaction, and his heroism. This time the laudatory statements and awards come from the state level. Rushford is also the athletic trainer for Glen Este High School where he utilized his life-saving skills and other talents earlier this school year to save the life of a seriously injured Trojan athlete.
Clermont Northeastern senior sports star Kara Johnson earns Division II first team All-Ohio academic honors
Kara Johnson, Clermont Northeastern senior and three-sport star, has recently earned a berth on the first team of the Division II All-Ohio All-Academic team. She was a Southern Buckeye Conference American Division all-star in all three sports. She has earned special awards from her alma mater as the most improved on the volleyball court and the most valuable player on the basketball court and the softball diamond.
County well-represented on four all-star squads in 1986-87
Amelia, Batavia, Glen Este, Goshen, and Milford were members of four separate conferences in 1986-87. Following are the Clermont countians on those football all-star teams of 20 falls ago.
Nate Kramer, New Richmond swim star, taking his talents to UC
Nate Kramer, New Richmond High School senior, has signed a collegiate letter-of-intent to continue his education and his athletic career at the University of Cincinnati. He plans to major in the field of business with an emphasis on marketing. “I chose UC because it’s close to home and offered what I wanted,” said Kramer. His parents, Vince and Deann Kramer, are happy with his choice.
Trojans and Barons compete in Amelia Power Meet
The Second Annual Amelia High School Strongman Contest was garnered by the Hamilton High School’s Big Blue team #1 with a an overall total of 198 points. The other team scores were Glen Este #1 123.5, Amelia #1 122.5, Glen Este #2 63.5, Scott (Ky.) #1 47, Amelia #2 37, Hamilton #2 29, and Amelia #3 8.

Volunteering at Clermont Senior Services does not require a mind like Einstein, the athleticism of an Olympian or the charisma of a politician. Our volunteers come in all sizes, shapes, ages, and from diverse backgrounds. Our only requirements are to have a compassionate and caring attitude, and to be someone who is willing to help their senior neighbors.
