The first Zach Strief “Dream Big” Foundation Football Camp will take place July 6-8, at Strief’s alma mater, Milford High School.

Strief is a former Milford High and Northwestern University football standout who is now a member of the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL).

On July 6, the camp will be open 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. for youth entering grades eight through 12 and a lunch will be included. On July 7, the camp will be 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. for youth entering grades eight through 12 and lunch will be included. On July 8, the camp will be 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. for youth entering grades three through seven and lunch will be included.

The lunch will consist of pizza, fruit, and a drink. Each camper is encouraged to bring his own water bottle and there will be breaks given, the number based on the weather conditions.

The cost for youth entering grades eight through 12 will be $75 per person and includes two days of camp. For youth entering grades three through seven the cost will be $35 per person. For a family with more than one camper the cost for each additional camper is $25.

Each camper will receive a T-shirt, a water bottle, an instructional packet, and a certificate of completion.

The daily activities include group and individual instruction on form and technique at the position level and it will also cover running and tackling, seven on seven competitions, and more.

Strief pointed out the mission statement of the foundation is "dedicated to providing opportunities to children in the form of educational growth and life skills lessons coming from positive role models. The foundation is focused on providing unique experiences and a financial commitment to assist all kids in their physical and mental development."

On hand to instruct and help the campers will be approximately one dozen NFL players. Those whom Strief has already received verification of their attendance are Brett Basanez (6-foot, 2-inch, 215-pounds), quarterback of the Carolina Panthers, who played college ball at Northwestern; Rob Petitti (6-6, 327), offensive tackle of the Saints, who played college ball at Pittsburgh; Jahri Evans (6-4, 318), offensive guard of the Saints, who played college ball at Bloomsburg; Chinedum Ndukwe (6-2, 219), safety of the Cincinnati Bengals, who played college ball at Notre Dame; Ikechuku Ndukwe (6-4, 230), an offensive guard of the Baltimore Ravens, who played college ball at Northwestern; and Jimmy Verdon (6-3, 280), a defensive end of the Bengals, who played college ball at Arizona State.

The former Milford resident, Strief, said, "I am real excited for the camp. I'm absolutely glad to work with the local kids...I'm anxious to get back home."

Strief and his Saints' teammates just completed five days of their own Saints mini camp and one day of organized team activity in New Orleans. "It went real well, but it was very hot. I'm glad it's over," he laughed.
