It’s common, as you travel down the roads surrounding your current or childhood home, to think back to how things used to look.

As new homes are built, new businesses opened and farms created or replaced with subdivisions, the one certain thing is that things will continue to change. The Goshen Township Historical Society is doing its best to help local residents see some of those changes, through their picture book “Before That,” the local guardians of history will be comparing the Goshen Township of old to the newer version.

“This is a book of photographs, essentially,” said creator and historical society member James Koch. “There is enough text to explain what it is you’re looking at. It’s based on the ‘then and now’ concept, but I reversed it. My philosophy is that people should recognize the site first. There is a map in the book to help people in that. Once you know where it’s at, then we show it as it was.”
