Amy Baker, who was extradited to Kentucky June 6 where she has been charged with tampering with evidence for her involvement in the death of Marcus Fiesel, pleaded not guilty to the charge in a Mason County courtroom June 11.

Going into the hearing, Baker’s cash bond was set at $50,000. But during the hearing, which was an eight-minute video conference, Mason County Judge Todd Walton decided to reduce her bond to only 10 percent of that (or $5,000), thereby making it possible, if her family or friends can come up with the cash, for her to be released.

The judge’s ruling came after Baker’s Kentucky attorney, Bryan Underwood, effectively argued that his client was not a flight risk. Underwood cited the fact that Baker is still fighting for custody of her three biological children in Ohio and also referenced Baker’s past cooperation with Clermont County prosecutors.

Mason County prosecutor John Estill argued to keep Baker’s bond the same, but since he could not explain to the judge why he and the grand jury had yet to consider the case, the judge firmly denied the prosecution’s request.
