What is believed to have started as a motorcycle stunt on state Route 32 Sunday resulted in the death of a Wheelersburg man.

Jared Roe, 23, died after an apparent stunt he performed on his motorcycle resulted in a crash in Batavia.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Roe was traveling west on state Route 32 on a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle when the accident took place Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m.

The man was allegedly riding with his feet on the seat of the motorcycle, and was not holding onto the handlebars. A witness said that it appeared that Roe was standing on the moving motorcycle when it traveled off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail and throwing Roe into the guardrail. Roe was killed instantly.

Traffic was stopped for several minutes when motorists attempted to deliver life-saving measures on Roe, who had not been wearing a helmet. Roe is the second person to die this year in Clermont County as a road fatality.
