Rodgers, Amelia basketball star, will be playing for UC Clermont Cougars

Amelia head basketball coach Craig Mazzaro was very pleased with the transfer of Courtney Rodgers from Anderson High School to the barony for the latter’s senior year. Recently Rodgers signed a collegiate letter-of-intent to play basketball for the University of Cincinnati Clermont College Cougars, the defending national champions of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.

Couch, Amelia basketball scholar-athlete, will play basketball for UC Clermont

Bryce Couch, stellar Amelia cager, has signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Cincinnati Clermont College to continue his studies and his basketball career. Not only is Couch talented on the hardwood, he was second in grade point average of the Amelia School of Business and Technology where he has also earned awards for outstanding student and for leadership.

The Mt. Carmel Fire (on offense), a first-year semi-professional football team, has been able to draw blood from two of its first three foes despite the opposition’s advantage of experience.

Williamsburg Wildcats are Southern Buckeye National runners-up

The Williamsburg Wildcat varsity boys track and field team tied its best-ever finish in league championship meet competition. The Wildcats were second in the Southern Buckeye Conoference National Division race behind Blanchester.

Clermont County dominated regular-season invitationals

Clermont County track and field teams fared well this season across our eastern and western borders in events that demand late, but necessary recognition, especially including the Western Brown and Anderson Invitationals. Clermont County teams dominated the boys division with Goshen (Gos) leading the way by earning 124 points, Amelia (Ame) had 109, Glen Este (GE) 104, Western Brown 63, North Adams 45, Eastern 28, East Clinton 26, Felicity (Fel) 12, Ripley 11, and Georgetown 3.

Todd Wells retires after 13 successful seasons as New Richmond head coach

Todd Wells has recently announced his resignation as the head coach of the New Richmond varsity tennis team. He is regarded by many who follow the Clermont County prep tennis scene as the most successful in the county’s history. He was the head coach at his alma mater for 13 years.

Economic Development Committee moving forward in New Richmond

The New Richmond Economic Development Committee is moving forward with its mission of revitalizing the economy and making the village a family-oriented destination. The economic development committee is made up of more than 30 concerned village residents.

Albert John Wilderspin, 48

Albert John Wilderspin, 48, of Union Township, died June 18, 2007. He was a maintenance supervisor at Retirement Communities. Funeral services were held June 21 at the Montgomery Assembly of God.

Clem Clausen, 93

Clem Clausen, 93, of Wayne Township, died June 19, 2007. He was a self-employed farmer. Funeral services were held June 22 at the Holy Name Chapel in Blanchester.

Thomas E. Kelley, 68

Thomas E. Kelley, 68, of Stonelick Township, died June 17, 2007. He was a self-employed business owner. Funeral services were held June 20 at the St. Philomena Church. Burial followed at the St. Philomena Cemetery in Stonelick Township.
