Bethel-Tate’s Tyler tops all in SBC-A track meet
Western Brown was forced to the final event before finally edging a surprisingly tough Bethel-Tate team in the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division (SBC) girls track and field championships that took place in Mount Orab. The Broncos (WB) tallied 123.5 points, the Tigers (BT) 122, Goshen (Gos) 73, New Richmond (NR) 26, and Clermont Northeastern (CNE) 8.5.
Haley Shinkle to study and play at Lake Erie
Haley Shinkle, Clermont Northeastern High School athletic star, has signed a letter-of-intent to attend Lake Erie College, Painesville, Ohio. She will compete in the fast pitch softball program. Haley lettered in volleyball, basketball, and fast pitch softball. In softball she earned Southern Buckeye Conference American Division all-star status as a third baseman and outfielder. The school has rewarded her with Golden Glove and Blue and Gold honors.
Rose to study medicine and football at TMC
Jake Rose, Goshen football standout, has signed a letter-of-intent to play ball and study at Thomas More College, Crestview Hills, Ky. “I like Thomas More because it’s a small campus and it’s local and it is a Catholic college,” said Rose who was a captain of the Warriors and a Southern Buckeye Conference American Division all-star.
Myers successfully completes first Boston Marathon run
Sandy Myers has added her name to the list of Clermont countians who qualified for and competed in the Boston Marathon. Myers’ achievement of qualifying for the prestigious 26.2-mile run is remarkable considering she began running less than three years ago.
Clermont County diamond teams dominate foes
Clermont County teams fared very well in the opening round of the sectional baseball and fast pitch softball tournaments. Amelia avenged a regular season loss to Glen Este by surprising the Trojans 9-4 in a Division I game that took place at Midland Field. Tyler Feine tossed a five-hitter for the Barons. Jerry Neeley was the losing pitcher.
Williamsburg’s Little is only Clermont champ in SBC-A track and field
Blanchester is the champion of the girls division of the Southern Buckeye Conference National Division track and field championship meet that took place at Western Brown High School.
Lions, Barons, and Cardinals are fast pitch winners
New Richmond, Amelia, and Felicity have emerged from recent Clermont County high school girls fast pitch softball battles the most unscathed. Milford and Williamsburg have been breaking even of late. The Lions won out over Glen Este’s Trojans 5-2 in this non-conference battle between two county squads. Michelle Sweet limited the Purple and White to just four base raps on her way to a win on the mound.
Finan, Hughes lead Lions to SBC-A track title
New Richmond captured the Southern Buckeye Conference track and field championship in the annual showdown that took place this year at Western Brown High School. The Lions (NR) scored 137 points, Goshen (Gos) 95, Western Brown (WB) 65, Bethel-Tate (BT) 52, and Clermont Northeastern (CNE) 3.
Glen Este sends academic teams to Columbus
There is no lack of academic excellence within the hallways and classrooms of the Glen Este Middle School. Approximately 30 talented sixth, seventh, and eight-grade students traveled to Columbus recently to compete against other middle school student teams in three state programs known as Youth For Justice, We The People, and Project Citizen.
‘Courtyards’ opens in Amelia
The “Courtyards at Olive Branch” in Amelia celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 9. The new 72 unit community, which advertises modern and convenient ranch style condominiums (with two bedrooms and upstairs option) and boasts individually designed accompanying courtyards, took three and a half years to complete.
