Ohio’s swingingest sheriff recently joined the ranks of volunteers at WOBO, Clermont County’s public radio station, as a swing and big band disc jockey on the morning shift. Sheriff Tim Rodenberg, who spins discs Tuesdays from 5-8 a.m., said that he kind of stumbled into things after catching up with an old friend.

A Clermont County man is under arrest after what appears to be an accidental death caused by alcohol. The man, Paul R. Daugherty, of Bethel-Maple Road, allegedly ran over a woman who was trying to stop him from leaving a bar drunk, said a press release from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Department. According to the release, at 2:11 a.m. on April 30, Daugherty, 38, was leaving Hoppy’s Bar in Amelia when he killed Melissa Robbres, 39.

A thousand local students had the chance to travel back in time to late 18th century Clermont County at the 15th annual Grassy Run Rendezvous preview day April 27. The school day preview was designed as a way for students of all ages to experience the things that they have read in their history books, said Grassy Run co-founder Sharon Brumagem.

The Southern Ohio Health Services Network (SOHSN) has announced that its name has changed to HealthSource of Ohio as of May 1. SOHSN, now HealthSource of Ohio, celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2006.

During the regular patrol update to the Batavia Township Trustees, Deputy BJ Boerger discussed a recent copper theft bust, as well as how the copper theft situation seems to be spiraling out of control in many areas.

The Clermont Transportation Connection is hoping to further increase service to county residents through the creation of a new scheduled bus route later this month. A dedicated route, which will run from New Richmond to Cincinnati, will be a new daily service that may grow, said CTC director Ben Capelle.

An estimated 300 Clermont County residents participated in this year’s March of Dimes WalkAmerica held at East Fork State Park April 28. For the past 37 years, the annual WalkAmerica event has been taking place to help the March of Dimes in its on-going fight to save premature babies. Karen Keller, the March of Dimes executive director, said that half a million premature babies are born every year in the United States (300 a year in Clermont County) and the annual incidence of preterm birth has increased 30 percent since 1983.
