Western Brown was forced to the final event before finally edging a surprisingly tough Bethel-Tate team in the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division (SBC) girls track and field championships that took place in Mount Orab.

The Broncos (WB) tallied 123.5 points, the Tigers (BT) 122, Goshen (Gos) 73, New Richmond (NR) 26, and Clermont Northeastern (CNE) 8.5.

Emily Tyler, Bethel-Tate junior, was the day’s best performer winning four events. Staci Hicks, Goshen junior, took three events. Erinn Ballein, Bethel-Tate senior, Brittany Brannock, Bethel-Tate junior, and Kim Steele, Goshen junior, were victorious in two events each.

Tyler established a new SBC mark with a clocking of 15.5-second in the 100-meters high hurdles. The previous record was set in 1991 by former Clermont Northeastern great Melissa Sutton (15.8).
