Arch Materials recently showcased its limestone mine operation to Jackson Township officials and residents with a tour of the facility.

Last week, a tour was provided to a mine committee created   to increase communications and improve relations between the mining operation and the public, as well as to other township officials whose jobs reflected an interest in the operation, including a zoning board that came to examine the water retention system being created at the facility.

“They have started digging, they have one tunnel in about 30 or 40 feet, and the other much longer than that,” said Jackson Township zoning administrator Bruce Privett. “The planning commission was out there just before we were to see an excellent example of groundwater management for an industrial site.”

Construction on the mine was begun last year. It will eventually produce limestone products.
