A Clermont County man is under arrest after what appears to be an accidental death caused by alcohol.

The man, Paul R. Daugherty, of Bethel-Maple Road, allegedly ran over a woman who was trying to stop him from leaving a bar drunk, said a press release from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the release, at 2:11 a.m. on April 30, Daugherty, 38, was leaving Hoppy’s Bar in Amelia when he killed Melissa Robbres, 39. According to the report, Robbers was with a group of patrons who were trying to convince Daugherty not to leave in an intoxicated state. When he was backing up, Robbers was apparently knocked over, and then rolled over when Daugherty tried to pull away, pinning her beneath the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
