Amelia nets victories in tennis’ opening serves; Goshen, Batavia, and Milford are triumphant, too

Amelia and Goshen have enjoyed beginning their respective boys soccer campaigns on successful notes. Batavia and Milford have also won early on campaign conquests.

Amelia

The Barons beat Bethel-Tate 4-1. Amelia winners: Eric Schweinhart (first singles) 6-1, 6-1; Sam Gabbard (second singles) 6-0, 6-2; Ryan Collett and Chris Pfaffroth (first doubles) 6-0, 6-0; and Eric Fedus and Ahren Kirschner (second doubles) 6-0, 6-1. Bethel-Tate winner: Ward (third singles) 6-2, 6-3.

Norwood was shut out 5-0. Amelia winners: Schweinhart 6-2, 6-2; Gabbard 6-1, 5-7, 6-1; Einstein Nguyen 6-1, 4-6, 6-4; Collett and Pfaffroth 6-0, 6-0; and Fedus and Kirschner 6-0, 6-0.

In a 4-1 Fort Ancient Valley Conference Cardinal Division loss to Kings the Barons’ point was accounted for by Fedus and Kirschner (first singles) 6-3, 6-2.

Goshen

The Warriors also beat Bethel-Tate 4-1. Goshen winners: Halvorsen (first singles) 7-6, 6-2; Wolfe (second singles) 6-3, 6-3; Stephens (third singles) 6-2, 6-4; and Kincaid and Parriman (second doubles) 6-2, 7-5. Bethel-Tate winner: Wagner and Willenbrink (first doubles) 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.

Batavia

The Bulldogs blanked Blanchester's Wildcats 5-0 in a Southern Buckeye Conference National Division tilt. Batavia winners: Strine 6-2, 6-0; Howell 6-2, 6-1; Miller 6-0, 6-1; Burns and Mollmann 6-0, 6-1; and Hartman and Larrison 6-0, 6-2.

Mariemont's Warriors beat the Green and White 3-2. Batavia winners: Miller (third singles) 7-6, 3-6, 6-3 and Burns and Mollmann (first doubles) 7-5, 6-4.

Milford

The Eagles whitewashed Glen Este's Trojans 5-0. Milford winners: Andrew Bunker 4-6, 6-0, 7-6; Kevin Rogers 6-2, 6-0; Connor Duffy 6-1, 6-0; Nate Marchant and Robert Talbert 6-1, 6-0; and Josh McClain and Jacob Meurer 6-1, 6-0.

Anderson outserved the Red and White 4-1. Milford winner: Bunker (first singles) 6-1, 6-2.

Colerain's Cardinals nipped the Eagles 3-2 in a Greater Miami Conference fray. Milford winners: Bunker (first singles) 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 and Duffy (third singles) 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.

New Richmond

The Lions were downed by Madeira's Mustangs 4-1. New Richmond winner: Bill Loyd and Greg Mott (first doubles) 6-1, 6-4.
