It’s a yard sale to tame the inner bargain hunter in all of us. On May 18-20, a yard sale of spectacular proportions will begin on one side of the United States and span the continent, with a portion of the sale rolling through Clermont County.

The US 50 Yard Sale, in its eighth year of providing second hand deals to the masses, will span the continent in search of a few good deals.

“In 2000, our local tourism official was trying to get some tax support, and it came out of that that most people didn’t think they benefitted from tourism,” said organizer Tom Taylor. “It was mainly the restaurants or hotels, so I was trying to think of something we could do so everyone was gaining. I’ve heard of other yard sales like this. I’ve always liked US 50, which starts in Maryland and goes to California. We had several goals to tie together. A lot of cities have recycling days, and recycling is really a code name for taking things to the junk yard. Well, a lot of cities are now tying in their recycling days with the yard sale, because the best example of recycling is reusing.”
