Out of 12,000 statewide entries, seven local students have been selected into this year’s Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition.

The art students receiving the honor this year are McNicholas High School seniors Erin Overmann and Patricia Brinck, Milford High School seniors Rachael Robinson and Erin Jackson, Milford High School juniors Paul Slupski and Krystal Reynolds, and Amelia High School senior Jessica Thomas.

Batavia resident Erin Overmann’s artwork entitled “Cherry Tree,” which she said was a last minute submission, is a three-series colored pencil work depicting how the same cherry tree changes throughout the three seasons of summer, spring, and winter. “Cherry Tree” was one of only 25 artworks that won the distinction of being chosen for the Governor’s award of excellence and will hang in the State Department of Education’s display.

“Cherry Tree” will not be on public display, it will only be available to the State Department and the Governor’s Office staff.
