Eighteen Batavia High School students have formed an international service projects group called Interact.

The Interact program, sponsored by the Batavia Rotary Club, is a volunteer-based, high-school service project. It is open to all students of Batavia High School, aged 14-18, with no academic requirements for membership.

Students need only the desire to nurture and encourage the ideals of public and community service, said Interact mentor and four-year rotary member Patricia Webb.

“The program has been designed for the kids to do service projects with an international theme,” she said. “I knew that Rotary International offered club activities for high school students, and Interact seemed like a great idea.”
