Nearly seven months after the death of three-year-old foster child Marcus Fiesel, the murder trial of accused foster-mother Liz Carroll has begun.

Nearly 130 prospective jurors were called and appeared before Clermont County Court of Common Pleas Judge Robert Ringland Feb. 12. Of those that appeared, a pool of 31 was selected for consideration to serve as jurors in the murder trial.

Forty-nine people were interviewed and questioned before Judge Ringland, prosecutors, and defense attorney Gregory Cohen before this final pool of 31 was selected. The final 31 prospective jurors were scheduled to appear again in court Feb. 13 for more questioning to determine which 12 jurors (and four alternates) have been exposed to the least publicity on the alleged murder and best suited to impartially hear the case.

Liz Carroll (along with husband David) is being tried for the murder of their foster son Marcus. According to prosecutors, Marcus died after being bound and left in a closet over a weekend in early August 2006.
