Young named assistant dean of technolog services at UC Clermont

Steve Young has been named the new assistant dean of technology and facilities services at the University of Cincinnati Clermont College.

On staff at U.C. Clermont college for 13 years, Young was previously the director of technology and network management. During those years, he steered the college through remarkable growth; the college evolved from two to six buildings and experienced a 43 percent enrollment growth rate.

In his new position, Young, who was born in Virginia and raised in Richmond, Ky., will have responsibility for all of the technology on the campus. This includes all support services for the computer labs, the telecommunication systems, and the audio and visual systems.

On the facilities side, Young will be taking over management of all the physical building issues, the parking lots, any new construction projects, and any future renovation projects to existing facilities.

"I am definitely very excited about the new position," he said. "We have already done a great job of bringing technology advancements to the college. In fact, we are a leading institution in regards to technology, however, there are always a lot of new things to learn as technology changes and gets more advanced."

Young was closely involved in the design and construction of the college's last four new buildings by working directly with architects and construction teams to ensure that current and future technology needs of the college were met.

Young, who lives in Cincinnati with his wife Holly and two children, is looking forward to working closely with his new staff in providing good levels of service and to increase those levels of service in the future for those people who come to the college to receive a quality education.

Young said that he loves his job, loves coming to work, and welcomes the new job of combining technology and facilities services.

"This new position provides the opportunity for the college to merge the two critical and intertwined service areas of technology and facilities management," he said. "It has thus far been very exciting to work with faculty and staff to create a wonderful learning environment for our students. I am blessed to be in a position that allows me to be creative, innovative, and able to help make a difference in other people's lives."

Young brings to U.C. Clermont many years of extensive corporate experience in information technology. He worked for Chiquita Brands International in Cincinnati and Columbia Gas Transmission based out of Charleston, W.V before coming to U.C. in 1994.

Dean David H. Devier said that Young had a proven track record of management success and was pleased to announce his new position on the Clermont campus.

"Steve Young has proven himself to be an outstanding manager throughout his tenure with the college and adding the facilities management to his purview is a logical progression in his career and of major benefit to the college," the dean said. "He brings many years of experience with technical operations to the new position which will serve us well."
