Wendy Planicka has resigned as the communications coordinator for the West Clermont School District.
She is leaving West Clermont after five years to accept a position as the communications coordinator for the Butler County Board of MRDD.
“I will be doing the same job for Butler County as I was doing for West Clermont,” she said. “I will be doing public relations, media relations, website design and update, and campaign work.”
Planicka encouraged and helped the West Clermont school district create the communications coordinator position specifically for her in Aug. 2002.
Planicka said the thing that she will miss the most about the position as West Clermont is working with the media and getting other people's stories out there in the community to inspire, enlighten, and educate.
"Having a part in that is really what makes a job like this so rewarding," she said.
Planicka was born in Michigan and currently lives in Fairfield with her husband Michael and twin daughters Arlene and Lydia. The new Butler County position will enable her to be closer to home and allow her to spend more time with her family and friends.
Although she is looking forward to this exciting new chapter in her life, she said that she will miss the friends that she has made in the West Clermont school district and the county.
"I have enjoyed working here," she said. "I always felt as if I was an integral part of the team that is trying very hard to improve the school district and the quality of education for the its students. It has been wonderful."
Planicka's last day at the school district will be Jan. 12.
There are no immediate plans to find a replacement.
