The Union Township Police Department responded to a residential fire on Main Street in Amelia Dec. 6.

Union Township Fire Chief Stan Deimling said that the single family structure, located at 141 East Main Street, was a complete loss.

“We were called to the scene before 5 p.m. on the 6th,” he said. “Upon our arrival, we experienced heavy fire involvement on the first floor. Fortunately, no one was home at the time; the occupants were away.”

Union Township firefighters had the fire extinguished in 20 minutes but remained on the scene for more than three hours.
