Batavia’s third annual Christmas in the Village will take place Dec. 1.

Presented by the Batavia Nursing Care Center and the Beautification Committee of the Village of Batavia, the event is designed to encourage new people to visit and spend a holiday evening in the village.

“It will be a very nice, special event for the village residents and all of those families who attend,” said event chair Summer Tyler.

The event will be held from 7 – 9 p.m. and will begin with a Christmas tree lighting ceremony outside of the administration building on Main Street.

Throughout the evening, there will be photos at the village office with Santa, two door prizes, horse-drawn carriage rides, and the singing of Christmas carols.

There will be a reading of “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” by Larry Behymer of the Beechmont Players community theater group.

Children who attend will receive a coloring/game sheet, free snacks, and a stocking filled with candy.

The event committee is looking for volunteers to bake sugar cookies for the children, supply felt fabric to make the stockings, and to photocopy flyers and the puzzle/coloring sheet.

The event is free and open to the public.

“We would love to see this event grow each year and have something wonderful that residents and businesses alike can look forward to each year,” said Tyler.

Anyone interested in participating/volunteering, or for more information is encouraged to contact the beautification committee at (513) 732-0694.
