Williamsburg resident Joseph W. Johnston was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Class of 2006 at ceremonies held in Columbus Nov. 2.

“The ceremony was very nice, it was very moving.” Johnston said. “I felt a tremendous, indescribable pride in being selected. I am not quite sure what i did to deserve it, but it is quite an honor.”

During his career as a soldier in the United States Army, Johnston fought in two theaters of war; he fought during the Vietnam conflict (where he saw combat) and the first Persian Gulf war (he was a paratrooper).

Governor Taft inducted Johnston into the 2006 Hall of Fame along with 19 other veterans –
