The recently formed beautification committee of the Batavia Village Council will hold its first meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 19 in the council’s regular meeting room.

The committee was formed to identify small beautification projects not covered by the Main Street Project.

Councilwoman Summer Tyler said that the committee will be considering what might be done to improve property owned by the village.

“What prompted it is two people in the community brought to my attention that the village owns property on South Riverside Drive,” councilwoman Summer Tyler said. “There is the possibility that we could put a park in there or a scenic area with benches, plantings, things like that.”

Tyler said that it is hoped that community members will attend the meeting and become involved in the process.

“Basically, this is a brainstorming kind of thing right now,” Tyler said. “We’re going to look at the things we can do quickly and on a small budget to make a difference for the community.”
