Finan wins tenth annual Scott McDowell 5K race

A record number of 215 people participated in the 10th Annual Scott McDowell Memorial River Days Run. The five kilometer Run/Walk/ Kids Fun Run takes place to honor the memory of former New Richmond athlete Scott McDowell, a 1984 graduate. Proceeds from the event are used to help fund the projects of the Boys/Girls Clubs of Clermont County.

Eric Finan, New Richmond High School senior, was the overall winner by completing the course through the streets of New Richmond, in 17-minutes, nine-seconds. The overall female winner was Samantha Patty with a time of 19:36.

Following are the best placers by category.

Male 10-under: Theo Lefler of New Richmond 31:45, Joshua Heiden of New Richmond 32:06, and Matthew Pryor of Bethel 32:10. Female 10-under: Emily Heussler of Cincinnati 25:29, Eleanor Schmalz of Cincinnati 25:39, and Annie Lefler of New Richmond 28:13.

Male 11-14: David Lawrence of Batavia 19:56, Bobby Bowman of Felicity 20:53, and Tony Wolfer of New Richmond 20:53. Female 11-14: Michelle Thomas of Cincinnati 20:44, Erin Hecht of St. Ursula 20:52, and Teresa Thaler of St. Ursula 20:59.

Male 15-18: Jacob Smith of New Richmond 19:28, J. T. Belcher of Sardinia 20:28, and Christopher Heald of New Richmond 24:20. Female 15-18: Meghan Shagena of St. Ursula 19:58, Christina Zaffiro of St. Ursula 20:52, and Megan Wright of Mt. Orab 20:54.

Male 19-24: James Roth of Cincinnati 22:08 and Stephen Sheperd of Cincinnati 29:44. Female 19-24: Carley Zugelter of Batavia 24:04, Carmen Storetvedt of Amelia 28:11, and Renee Crawford of New Richmond 28:29.

Male 25-29: Jason Mosbaugh of New Richmond 19:04, Andrew Maly of Chilo 21:33, and Eric Ball of New Richmond 29:48. Female 25-29: Lisa Shephard of Cincinnati 29:17, Letha Pallivathucal of Mariemont 33:57, and Libbie Schroth of Cleves 36:16.
