John Herbert Paul Jr., 53

John Herbert Paul Jr., 53, of Portsmouth, died July 28. He was a manager at Meijier and served in the Air Force. Funeral services were held August 1 at the Evans Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Graceland Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Milford.

Catherine Ann Hollan, 43

Catherine Ann Hollan, 43, of Loveland, died July 26. She was a cook. She is survived by brothers, Perry, William, and David; sisters, Connie (Kenneth) Knabe and Christine (Robert) Blanchard; and several nieces and nephews.

Joyride turns disastrous

Two Clermont County teenagers fled the scene of an accident after crashing an automobile into the living room of an Amelia residence July 26. According to Ohio State Highway Patrol Lieutenant Paul Hermes, the preliminary investigation has revealed that a 13-year-old Amelia resident had taken his mother’s 1999 Ford Taurus without permission.

Fund-raiser to be held for Milford grad

Current and former drama queens and kings at Milford High School are gathering Aug. 11 to lend a helping hand to two old students they consider family.

The dilemma at Milford Schools appears to be deepening. On paper, as many schools seek to increase enrollment and reap the state funding that comes with it, the booming student body seems like a bonus.

Clermont Fair was a great success

The Clermont County Fair, which took place July 23-29, has been deemed a great success. “The fair was once again a success for all those involved and for all those who participated,” said Fair Board Director Harold Herron. “The balmy weather could not have been more cooperative. We only had one morning of severe rain. Overall, there were no problems to speak of.” According to Herron, attendance for the week was up from previous years, especially for motorized events like the tractor/truck pulls and the two nights of demolition derbys.
