Gladys B. Conaway, 96

Gladys Binning Conaway, 96, of Newtonsville, died July 17. She was a beautician. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paris S. and Flonnie E. (nee Lewis) Silvers.

Darlene Goins, 62

Darlene Goins, 62, of Milford, died July 15. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by husband, James Donald; and mother, Catherine Newcomb.

Gary F. Kearsey, 67

Gary F. Kearsey, 67, of Union Township, died July 5. He was a retired fireman and a veteran of the Navy. He was preceded in death by mother, Marie; father, Thomas; and wife, Carol Lynn.

Donald F. Morgan, 74

Donald F. Morgan, 74, of Milford, died July 12. He worked for Cincinnati Milacron and was a Navy Field Service Specialist in the Korean War.

Kimberly D. McCoy, 42

Kimberly Denise McCoy, 42, of Goshen and Milford, died July 8. She worked in apartment maintenance. She was preceded in death by father, Larry Leon McCoy; and mother, Patricia Nelms.

Tornado tears through Goshen

Leaving a half mile path of destruction in its path, an F1 tornado touched down in Goshen Township at approximately 8: 30 p.m. July 11. “It is a miracle that no one was injured or killed,” said Goshen resident and eyewitness Gary Marsh.

Bethel mayor David Simpson had big plans for the village

David William Simpson, 51, died July 15, 2006, after suffering a series of brain aneurysms that left him in a coma for nearly a week. He was the mayor of Bethel. A husband, father, and business owner, Simpson was known for his dedication to the job at hand and to his principles.

Development meeting held in New richmond

New Richmond is taking decisive action to ensure the future economic success of the Village. More than 100 concerned New Richmond residents, business owners, and Village officials attended the New Richmond economic development kick-off meeting held at the Boys and Girls Club July 13.

Bethel mayor dies after six days in a coma

Flags around the county were flown at half-staff this week in honor of Mayor David Simpson of Bethel, who died on July 15 of an aneurysm he suffered earlier in the week. Simpson, 51, was rushed to the hospital July 10 after collapsing. He spent several days in a coma before passing away.

Township seeks to hire second patrol deputy

The Batavia Township board of trustees voted July 18 to place a levy on the November ballot to hire additional police officers for the township. Currently, the township enjoys the services of a single sheriff’s deputy with dedicated patrol routes within the township.
