Band may return for Milford kids

The school board of Milford Schools is planning to continue exploration into the usage of an offer by private citizens to fund a band program that was cut from the school budget after an operating levy failed earlier this year.

Recently, an offer was made by the Miami Glen Performing Arts Center Inc. to fund the sixth grade band program, which had been eliminated for the upcoming school year. The offer of more than $17,000 would allow the board to hire a teacher to fill that position and continue the program. The proposed plan will pull together multiple instructors from the Milford music department to create a solution, with the aid of the $17,000, without the hiring of an additional teacher.
