The final resting place of the last surviving Union Civil War veteran of Clermont County was recognized with a dedication on May 21.

The General William H. Lytle Camp #10, a unit of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW), dedicated a memorial bronze plaque on the grave of Private Leonidas H. Fisher at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Monroe as part of a national program of identifying and recognizing the last surviving Union Civil War veteran in every county in the United States. To date the last Union veteran has been identified in 85 of Ohio

Descendants of Leonidas Fisher gathered at Mt. Zion Cemetery for the dedication of a plaque recognizing him as the last surviving Union Civil War veteran in Clermont County.
