The state requirement to select a deputy director for the Clermont County Board of Elections remains unfulfilled after an April 18 meeting, in which the vote over veteran deputy director Kathy Jones once again ended split along party lines.

The conflict, which was sparked during a March 3 reorganization which is required by law every two years, revolves around reluctance on the part of the two republican members of the board to allow Jones, who has served in the position for 14 years, to be re-appointed.
