Citing the loss of student revenue and the desire to make things easier for neighboring community members who want to bring their children to Batavia, the Batavia Local School District board of education voted recently to create and implement an open enrollment policy. The measure, which will take effect for the 2006-2007 school year, is hoped to draw a controlled number of students to the district that at this point, still has space for a limited number of spots open.
