Harold E. Applegate Sr., 76, of Monroe Township died Jan. 25, 2006. He was a Korean War Veteran.

Milford, died Jan. 26, 2006. He was self employed in general maintenance. He was preceded in death by parents, Roy David and Alice Gertude (Camery) Philhower.

Joseph Lester Speer, 79, of Goshen, died Jan. 20, 2006. He is survived by wife Louise Speer; son, David; daughter, Karen; mother Ethel Jones; father, Caleb Arthur; and four grandchildren.
Effort made to block pool sale

Tyler becomes newest Batavia councilwoman
Members of the Batavia Village Council held a special session Jan. 30 to elect a new council member. The session was held to replace the vacant seat left by former council member Scott Runck, who recently was forced to resign during the previous council meeting in order to pursue his new position on the Batavia Board of Education.
