Gillis James Meadors, 49, of Goshen, died on Jan. 10, 2006. He was born on July 13, 1956, the son of Brenda and Gillis Meadors.

Austin Michael Vaske, 2, of New Richmond, died Jan. 14, 2006. He was born on July 3, 2003, the son of Eugene and Heather (nee Gilliam) Vaske.
David Wayne Glancy, 54
David Wayne Glancy, 54, of Hamilton, died Jan. 11, 2006. He was born on Oct. 4, 1951, the son of the late Elsie and John Glancy. He was an Electronics Engineer at R & D Electronics. He is survived by daughter Linda, sisters Janet, and Ruth.
Dorothy Juanita Troxell, 67
Dorothy Juanita Troxell, 67, of Goshen, died on Jan. 9, 2006. She was born on Jan. 23, 1938, the daughter of the late Lilly and General Bolton.
Raymond Cox, 75
Raymond Cox, 75, of Batavia, died Jan. 10, 2006. He is survived by wife Betty (nee Crum); daughters Shelia, Sharon; sons, Ray, Chris; step-children Shon, Crystal, and Mason; grandchildren Nate, Olivia, Zach, Morgan, Aaron; step grandchildren, Kala, Parker, Christian, Cody, and Alexis Ray. He is also survived by first wife Mattie Aileen.
Batavia man arrested for trying to pass a forged prescription
A Batavia man was arrested Jan. 11 after the Milford Police investigated a forged prescription report at Krogers. According to police, Ronald B. Peveler, 43, of Bas Road in Batavia, was arrested for forging prescriptions and is also facing other charges.
Batavia begins search for a new member of council
The village of Batavia has officially begun its search for a new village council member. The announcement was made at the Batavia Village Council meeting Jan. 9.
Battle over new firehouse continues in Union Township
Three Union Township residents made another appeal to the Union Township Board of Trustees on Jan. 10 to stop the construction of a firehouse on Bach Buxton Road.
Batavia lowers speed limit at request of ODOT
As a result of frequent traffic accidents on state Route 132 near Batavia, council members have decided to lower the speed limit within the village limits.
Postcards from Hooverville
Just before Christmas, a number of Felicity High School sophomores suffered from depression of a greater sort than that associated with the winter blahs. Altogether, some 125 students spent their last day of school before break as victims of the Great Depression, care of the history staff at Felicity High School.
