Klan distributes newsletter to homes in Batavia
The organization known as the Ku Klux Klan has been targeting areas such as Batavia with active membership recruitment. Recently, Members of the Ku Klux Klan attempted to spread their propaganda by posting recruitment information in downtown Batavia. Police Chief Mike Gardner explained the situation in his regular report at the Batavia village council meeting Nov. 7.
According to Chief Gardner, Klan members tried to spread their message by hanging recruitment posters all over Main Street in Batavia. They also randomly placed copies of their newsletter called The Flame at the homes of residents who live in the village. The newsletters contained information about the workings of the organization which are meant to appeal to white citizens and push the group
